Identity Theft

This woman had her identity stolen by using her debit card all the time, so she knew she was using the money she already had. Most people always use the Credit card, so they can spend as much money as they want, and pay it off later. But this woman wanted to make sure she had the money for everything. This was not good for her. Somehow, someone had gotten a hold of her information, and was using her debit card.
Identity theft is such a common problem these days, because we use our credit cards, and our debit cards for everything we buy pretty much. Therefore, anyone could easily get a hold of our information when we use them. When you are at the store, and you type in your pin number, someone could easily see it. I dont think that you could really do much with that, but it is still something.

For someone to steal your identity, you would need their social security number, possibly even a birth certificate, a phone number, address, and a credit card number, some of those are not even required. You do not need much to steal someones identity, just their social security can give you alot of information.

To prevent your identity from being stolen, limit your use of debit cards and or credit cards, especially for online use. Other things you can do is to not give out information to anyone in person, over the internet, or anywhere in general.

You should blame both people, the person stealing the identity, and the person not protecting it. Because both people are to blame. The person stealing the identity, should not be doing this, because it is a federal crime. But, the person not protectiong it, should be looking out for their financial safety.
