Copyright Laws

You have copyrights when you write a song, just by writing the song, you have those rights.  The law goes on for 70 years after the writers death. In the case of two or more writers, the law extends to 70 years after the last writer exists. http://www.iwritethesongs.com/articles/how_and_when_to_copyright.cfm
Copyright really means; The right to copy. This means, the person who owns the copyrighted song, or songs, has the right to copy.  http://www.musicservices.org/node/17
The copyright situation in the US depends on state law for records made prior to February 15, 1972. Foreign recordings from 1946 or later are subject to copyright laws (even if they were made before 1972).  http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia:Public_domain#USA
Public domain is when a song or someone else’s work is not eligible for copyright, and people do not have to have permission to copy or use this song.
When going to use a song, if you are not sure of whether or not it is in the public domain, you need the proof of public domain, from a legitimate source.
 http://www.pdinfo.com/proof.php

In copyrighting music and lyrics,
- the artist of that song and its lyrics have the right to reproduce their original song, lyric or piece of music.
-has the right to create derivatives or variations of that song or lyrics
-has the right to distribute it, to perform and display it publicly

A & M Records vs. Napster (2001)

This famous case between the RIAA (Recording Industry Association of America) and Napster, a music website, is about how Napster was allowing people to download music to their computers, or music devices without paying for the music. This music was all copyrighted, and not able to be used like that, A&M Records, Inc. stepped up and sued Napster, so they would stop doing this.

Identity Theft

This woman had her identity stolen by using her debit card all the time, so she knew she was using the money she already had. Most people always use the Credit card, so they can spend as much money as they want, and pay it off later. But this woman wanted to make sure she had the money for everything. This was not good for her. Somehow, someone had gotten a hold of her information, and was using her debit card.
Identity theft is such a common problem these days, because we use our credit cards, and our debit cards for everything we buy pretty much. Therefore, anyone could easily get a hold of our information when we use them. When you are at the store, and you type in your pin number, someone could easily see it. I dont think that you could really do much with that, but it is still something.

For someone to steal your identity, you would need their social security number, possibly even a birth certificate, a phone number, address, and a credit card number, some of those are not even required. You do not need much to steal someones identity, just their social security can give you alot of information.

To prevent your identity from being stolen, limit your use of debit cards and or credit cards, especially for online use. Other things you can do is to not give out information to anyone in person, over the internet, or anywhere in general.

You should blame both people, the person stealing the identity, and the person not protecting it. Because both people are to blame. The person stealing the identity, should not be doing this, because it is a federal crime. But, the person not protectiong it, should be looking out for their financial safety.

New and Upcoming Technology

When you type in "emerging technology in 2011 with potential use " in your Google search bar, you come up with a site on wikipedia about a list of new technology. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_emerging_technologies#Electronics in the Electronics section of this page, you can find some interesting things, like flexible electronics, such as phones, and other things. there is also an electronic nose. This nose can sense spoiled food, chemical weapons, and even cancer! so far there is only comercialization on this product, but on other things in this section, they have prototypes already made!

Alos, when you type in "emerging technologies in 2011" a site known as gizmag.com shows up. http://www.gizmag.com/ is the site. they have things advertised sort of, just showing pictures of what is being developed. The first thing on this page will show you a Kodak camera that can capture videos of up to 720p under water! Another product on this page is the LEVITATR bluetooth keyboard, with magnificent features! It is made to flatten, and relax, so to say, when you are not typing, but when you would like to start typing, the  "but when activated the chiclet keys rise up and illuminate to offer some gratifying tactile typing" . doesn't that sound cool? I sure think so.
